In the Oct. 2, 2013, issue, your editorial was titled "Put the gun down." It railed against the Republicans and the shutdown of the government. Although I, personally, don't believe the shutdown accomplished much, it did bring out the mean spirit of Obama and his White House in shutting down the open air World War II monument to the elderly veterans who had come a long way to see it. Thanks to a few Republican congressmen, they pulled the fences aside and were allowed in.
In spite of all the dire predictions, the shutdown had no affect on the economy.
Your editorial demonized the Republicans, and you said the Democrats were gleeful as this was a gift heading into the 2014 elections.
My, what a few weeks has done to change that.
Ever since Obamacare came out, the Democrats have been running for cover and distancing themselves from a president who lied to the country when he said "If you like your health insurance plan and your doctor, you can keep them. Period." He said that 24 times, and he lied 24 times.
Now the citizens are finding out what they are facing from the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. They can take "affordable" out when some of them learn what they will be paying. The website is still not working properly, and millions have lost the insurance and doctors they need because their plans are deemed junk by the government,
And the government knows best what its citizens need. Do you think a 60-year-old man or woman needs maternity coverage or dental care for children?
Your editorial was a little premature.
