In Pennsylvania, it is legal to fire someone just because they identify as LGBT (Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender). Pennsylvania is the only state in the Northeast that has no law to protect LGBT workers against discrimination.
This could change if our senators will vote to pass the federal Employee Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which would protect employees against discrimination on the basis of sexuality and gender identity.
While the bill has the full support of Sen. Bob Casey, Sen. Pat Toomey is still undecided. Sen. Toomey needs to hear from representatives all over the state who believe that LGBT workers deserve the same protections that other minority groups already have.
No one should be fired for who they are or who they love. Please contact Sen. Toomey today at (717) 782-3951 and urge him to vote to pass ENDA.
