Attention Korean War veterans:
During the dark uncertain days of the early Cold War years, American soldiers were once again called into action. Men and women left the safety and security of the familiar here at home, trading it for the uniform of sacrifice and service in the U S military, destination Korea. The goal was to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met.
This year is the 60th anniversary of the end of that conflict.
A group of seniors at Northeastern High School would like to honor Korean War veterans by inviting them to join the Honor Bus. We will host our veteran guests for a day of gratitude and thanks for their service to our country. This event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16.
We will treat our guests to breakfast, a coach bus trip to the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D.C., lunch while in D.C., a visit to Arlington National Cemetery to see the changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns, and a buffet dinner upon our return.
This day is our way of saying thank you for your service. There is absolutely no cost for our veterans as you have already paid for this trip through your service. Information and applications can be obtained by contacting Duane Swartz at 266-3644, ext. 81307.
This event is made possible through the generous donations of local citizens, businesses and veterans organizations. To donate in honor of or in memory of a veteran, please send your donation to Honor Bus, c/o Northeastern High School, 300 High St., Manchester, PA 17345.
