What is wrong with doing the right thing? I am a strong supporter of the new voter ID law. Recently, The York Dispatch was loaded with articles and commentary promoting reasons we should not require voter ID. The same night a commentator from a local TV station, in talking about the bill, said it was to keep certain people from voting. That is not true. The bill is to ensure fair elections.
Identification is required for so many daily functions, and anyone who says there is not voter fraud is kidding themselves or trying to fool others.
Voting is a privilege and should be preserved for those who are legally qualified and who are who they say they are. If someone really wants to vote, obtaining ID should be a priority for that person -- and ID is not that difficult to obtain.
