BROOKLINE, N.H. (AP) — A collection of works by the artist who illustrated the "Dick and Jane" reader series is being sold at auction.

Richard Childress also did portraits of college presidents, worked in advertising, had works on the cover of major magazines and painted landscapes of college campuses.

He retired to Warner, N.H., and died in 1983.

His daughter Nancy Childress was the model for "Sally" in the Dick and Jane series. Her sister Susan was "Jane."

Nancy Childress is selling her father's artwork April 30 during a live online auction. The auction is being handled by Brookline Auction Gallery.

Along with a portrait of Dick are other portraits, black-and-white drawings of John F. and Jackie Kennedy and pastel paintings of college buildings around the country.
