The West Shore School Board on Thursday unanimously approved the closure of Lemoyne Middle School, according to the district.
The closure means New Cumberland will absorb most of the students, with a small number of students going to Allen Middle School. The board has been considering the move for months, as it will save West Shore $1 million, said district spokesman Ryan Argot.
Students from York County attend Crossroads, Allen and New Cumberland middle schools, Argot said. Allen Middle School is in Camp Hill, Crossroads Middle School is in Lewisberry, and New Cumberland Middle School is in New Cumberland.
