The Southern York County School District Foundation, which has been active since 2001, exceeded all previous marks in scholarship awards with the number of students and the amount awarded to them in the 2011-12 fiscal year.
The foundation raises money for grants and scholarships, which go directly to the school district and its students.
Foundation Vice President Jeff Brown addressed the Southern York County School District Board Directors at a recent meeting.
In 2011-12, 130 scholarships were awarded to 91 students at Susquehannock High School. The scholarship total reached $105,631 for graduating seniors, an increase of more than $10,000 from the previous year.
More than $24,000 was donated to school district programs through gifts from community businesses and supporters, he said. Total assets for the foundation continue to grow and are in excess of $538,000. During 2011-12, the foundation received more than $171,944 in contributions, surpassing the previous year by $5,289.
