Eastern York High School graduate Phil Landis lost both of his bouts over the weekend at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Iowa.
Landis is a 197-pound redshirt sophomore at Elizabethtown College. He drew Wheaton (Ill.) senior Darren Faber in a preliminary match, setting up their third meeting this season. Landis and Faber split at the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational in early February, but Friday's match went to Faber. Landis led the match 3-2, but got pinned at the 6:47 mark of the third period.
Landis' consolation match put him against the top seed and the No. 1-ranked wrestler in Division III in SUNY Cortland's Jared Myhrberg, who was upset in the first round. Myhrberg came into the tournament unbeaten and had finished third in the 2012 D-III national tournament. Myhrberg pinned Landis in 16 seconds, ending the season for Landis.
Landis finished season at 23-6.
