After posting a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles last week, Millersville University junior Melissa Plowman was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
The Dallastown High School graduate went unbeaten in singles and also scored a doubles victory for her Marauders. In the week's first match, she topped Hannah Pipkin of Kutztown, 6-4, 6-2. She followed that effort by breezing past West Chester's Brittany Counts, 6-3, 6-4. Also against West Chester, Plowman teamed with Samantha Prager at No. 1 doubles for a 9-8 victory.
The weekly award was a first for Plowman, who was named All-PSAC East Singles last season. While playing against the opposition's best player, she is 9-6 on the season and boasts a 10-5 doubles record with Prager.
Plowman has won her last three singles matches and four of her last five. She is 4-1 in singles against the PSAC East.
