The York County Penn State Cooperative Extension, 112 Pleasant Acres Road, will host a Horse Pasture Management education class, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Pasture provides horses with an area for exercise but can also provide for the basic forage needs. Many pastures are not producing at their full potential. Improving pastures is often just a matter of better understanding pasture plants, soil and the interaction between them.
Sessions will be Grazing Principles for a Healthier Horse, Toxic Plants and other Weeds, How to Fertilize Your Pastures and Pasture Renovation. The fee is $55 per person or $65 per couple residing in the same household who will share course materials. Participants will receive a notebook of reference material and a soil test kit. Bring your own packed lunch; refreshments will be provided.
Registration is due by Monday. To register, visit http://extension.psu.edu/events or call (717) 840-7408.
