Two York College athletes have been honored for successfully combining athletics and academics by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Men's lacrosse player Tyler Hutson, a junior attack, earned Capital One Academic All-America At-Large Third-Team honors on Tuesday.

Senior track and field All-American Tim Hartung earned Capital One All-District 4 Academic All-America Cross Country/Track & Field accolades.

Hutson is the first Spartan in school history to earn a national berth on the At-Large squad. The At-Large designation draws male student-athletes from lacrosse, golf, fencing, gymnastics, ice hockey, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling. Hutson was one of 45 student-athletes to earn the at-large honors and was the only men's lacrosse player to make one of the three national squads.

Hutson earned first team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors for the third consecutive season in early May. He tallied a team-high 52 goals while he also had 13 assists for 65 points. He is the Spartans' all-time leading scorer with 210 points on a school-record 161 goals and 49 assists.

Hutson helped the Spartans record a school-record 16 wins, helping them earn an NCAA Division III Tournament At-Large berth for the first time in school history. The Spartans won their first-ever NCAA game with their 8-3 win over Susquehanna in the opening round.

Hutson boasts a 3.87 grade-point average as a marketing major.

Hartung, meanwhile, is now eligible to repeat as a national All-American. He was a third-team national selection last year. The Division III Cross Country/Track & Field National All-America Team is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, June 24.

Hartung concluded his career over Memorial Day weekend when he captured a pair of All-America honors in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter races at the Division III National Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

Hartung finished his Spartan career as a seven-time All-American and a five-time CAC Athlete of the Year. He was undefeated in four CAC men's cross country championships and led the Spartans to three straight CAC cross country team championships. Hartung earned the 2014 Daniel J. Klinedinst Award, signifying the outstanding senior male athlete at York College.

Hartung is a nursing major at York and owns a 3.60 grade-point average.
