The York College women's basketball team passed a big Capital Athletic Conference test on Saturday afternoon when the Spartans bested Christopher Newport 75-63.

The Spartans improved to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference while the Captains fell to 6-2 overall and 0-1 in the league. The contest was the Captains' first-ever CAC game. CNU came into the game ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division III.

York Catholic High School graduate Brittany Hicks led the Spartans. The senior All-American poured in a game-high 21 points while she also pulled in a game-high 10 rebounds. The double-double was her fourth of the year and 30th of her career. Hicks was 6-for-13 from the floor and 2-for-3 from 3-point range. She also drained all seven of her free throw attempts.

Jess Selby added a season-high 15 points. She went 6-for-12 from the floor, including a season-high three triples. Selby pulled in five assists in her 21 minutes. Kristen Haley added 11 points and nine rebounds, while senior Kelsey Murphy was the fourth Spartan in double figures with 10 points.

Aja Wallpher dished out a season-high 12 assists to go along with her five points, four rebounds, and one steal.
