York College women's cross country athlete Jess Miller has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 29.

Miller helped lead the Spartans to a third-place finish at the Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University.

At the Cathcart Invitational, the junior took a third-place individual finish in 22 minutes,15.40 seconds. She posted the best time of her career and finished as the top NCAA Division III runner in the event by more than 33 seconds. She was running at the site of the Capital Athletic Conference championships.

FRESHMAN GOALIE RECOGNIZED BY CAC: York freshman goalkeeper Stevi Lukacz was selected as the CAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 30.

Lukacz is the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording 75 shutout minutes in a relief role after York's starting netminder, Melanie Glessner, suffered an injury against CAC rival Salisbury. Lukacz made six saves in the road victory against the Gulls. She also had a season-best eight stops in a 1-0 mid-week loss to Catholic for a .933 save percentage and a 0.54 goals-against average for the week.
