York College placed 153 student-athletes on the 2012-13 Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
The seven-team CAC had 825 student-athletes earn academic accolades during the past academic year. To earn the academic honor, student-athletes must have participated in one of the 21 conference-sponsored sports and attained a 3.20 grade-point average during the 2012-13 academic year.
The Spartans finished tied for second with St. Mary's with the 153 student-athletes who received the honor. York and SMC finished four back of Salisbury, who captured the crown for the highest total of student-athletes with 157. It is the second year in a row that the Sea Gulls nipped the Spartans by four in the total number of honorees.
York finished second among the full-time membership in percentage of student-athletes on the list. York placed 42.9 percent (153 of 356) of their total athletes on the list. St. Mary's earned the top percentage, placing 49.2 percent (153 of 295) of their student-athletes on the list.
York is the only CAC school that sponsors all 21 conference sports.
York has an impressive string of top finishes in the conference academic rankings. The Spartans have had the highest number of honorees in five of the last seven and eight of the last 11 years. The Spartans had a high-water mark of 187 total student-athletes on the list in 2008-09.
York has never finished below second in total number of student-athletes and has not placed below third in percentage of student-athletes of the list during the history of the award.
