Three former York-Adams League standouts have been honored for their volleyball achievements by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
Susquehannock High School graduate Jess Franz and Central York High School graduate Lauren Murphy were named to the All-PSAC Eastern Division Second Team. Franz is junior setter for Millersville University, while Murphy is a senior libero for Shippensburg University.
York Catholic High School graduate Sarah Cadwallader was selected to the All-PSAC Western Division Second Team. Cadwallader is a senior opposite at Slippery Rock.
Franz tallied a team- and career-high 913 assists, which were only 178 less than the 1,091 she had in her freshman and sophomore years combined. The assist total ranked her sixth in the PSAC. Franz also managed 61 kills on a .238 attack percentage. It was the highest attack percentage of any player on the team with at least 180 attempts. She also posted 218 digs and 13 total blocks to reach career-highs in all categories. She also put up 10 double-doubles with assists and digs, which was two more than her career total entering the year.
Murphy provided a team-high 494 digs this season, including double-digit totals in 27 of 35 matches. Her season high for digs is 27 set on Sept. 8 vs. Minnesota-Crookston. Through 117 career matches, Murphy has recorded 1,458 digs -- a total that ranks fourth in school history.
Cadwallader earned the honor after a career-year in which she finished with 279 kills, 2.38 kills per set a .202 hitting percentage, 57 blocks, 46 digs and 29 assists. She recorded at least 10 kills in 13 of SRU's matches and tallied three or more blocks in a match 11 times. She set career-highs in sets played (117), kills (279) and blocks (57) this season. Cadwallader matched a career-high with 20 kills vs. Shepherd (Sept. 7) and added 16 kills in a five set, come-from-behind win vs. Mercyhurst (Sept. 28).
