York College freshman attack Tyler Hutson was named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year on Wednesday, and also landed on the all-league first team.

York senior B.J. Blaker garnered second-team all-conference honors.

Hutson notched a team-leading 67 points on 51 goals and 16 assists. Those 67 points rank first all-time in single-season York history, while his 51 goals are the second most for a Spartan in one year. He ranked fourth in the conference in both points and goals this season.

Blaker secured his second All-CAC award after capturing second-team honors as a sophomore in 2010. The midfielder ranked second on the squad in points (32) and goals (24) this season. He also had eight assists. He finishes his career having played in 62 games and compiling 125 points on 91 goals and 34 helpers. Blaker is tied for first all-time in total games played at York, and stands fourth in goals, fifth in points and eighth in assists.

SOFTBALL TEAM CLOSES SEASON WITH DOUBLEHEADER SPLIT: The York College softball team closed out its 2012 campaign with a doubleheader split against visiting McDaniel on Wednesday in York.

The Spartans fell 4-2 in eight innings in Game 1 before bouncing back in Game 2 with a 5-2 non-conference triumph. York concluded the season at 14-24, while the Green Terror stand at 24-12.

In the first game, Brittany Therres pitched a complete-game six-hitter, allowing just two earned runs. She also had two hits, as did teammates Erin O'Leary and Hannah Hugel.

In the second game, Therres pitched another compete game, allowing seven hits and two earned runs. Hugel (three hits, two RBIs), Cara Rubinaccio (three hits, two runs scored) and Therres (two hits, one run scored) led the Spartan offense.

Therres finished 13-15 this season with a 3.81 earned-run average. For her career, Therres registered a 65-42 mark over her four seasons, including a career-best 27-6 campaign in 2010. For her career she posted a 2.43 ERA. Her 65 career victories, 6762/3 innings are both Spartan program records, while her 332 strikeouts rank second all-time in York softball history.
