Penn State York recently honored its student-athletes at the 41st annual athletic awards banquet.

Twelve Penn State York students earned Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Academic All-Conference recognition. The honor is given to student-athletes who have a semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher during the semester of competition or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and the completion of at least 24 credits. The PSY recipients were: Baseball: Kyle Lingg, York; Team Tennis: Duong H. Duong, York; Christopher M. Lawyer, York; and Ashley L. Valentin, York; Women's Volleyball: Hannah Kuhn, Red Lion; and Ashley L. Valentin, York; Women's Basketball: Courtney E. Riggs, Hanover; Soccer: Scott D. Barrera, York; Joshua D. Czerski, Baltimore; Mihir L. Jadhav, York; and Nicholas T. Ridolfi, Dallastown; Men's Basketball: Jamahl D. Ralls, Abingdon, Md.; and David B. Salerno, Bethlehem.

Four students earned PSUAC Athletic All-Conference in men's soccer: Aldin Avdic, York; Adam M. Beck, York; Trey T. Chilcoat, New Freedom; and Daniel J. Lynd, Hanover. In men's basketball, Xavier E. Smith, Bel Air, Md., earned an Athletic All-Conference honorable mention.

Scott D. Barrera and Mihir L. Jadhav, both of York and members of the soccer team, earned All-Academic honors from the United State Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). This honor is given to student-athletes who have a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher during the semester of competition or a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and completion of at least 24 credits.

Soccer team members Avdic and Chilcoat earned USCAA All-America honors.

Bennett M. Todd, White Hall, Md., received the Trimmer Award in basketball. This award is named in honor of former PSY basketball coach Ron Trimmer and is given to the most improved player.

Steven P. Higgins, York, received the Broadbent Award given in honor of Bruce Broadbent, Ph.D., former assistant professor of kinesiology at the campus and division head of health and human development at the Commonwealth College. Broadbent was the campus' first athletic director.

Ridolfi received the Christopher C. Miller Sportsmanship Award for soccer. The award was established in 2002 to honor the late Christopher C. Miller, the son of former Penn State York Soccer Coach George Miller, who died on July 9, 2001, at the age of 16. During his soccer career, Miller played between 350 and 400 soccer games and never received a yellow or red card for unsportsmanlike play.

Czerski, a senior on the men's basketball team, was also recognized for his outstanding performance on and off the basketball court with his jersey in a frame.

Richard Chilcoat, New Freedom, who is the PSY soccer coach, was named the PSUAC Soccer Coach of the Year. This is the third time Chilcoat has received this award.
