Here's a rundown of fireworks displays in York County and the surrounding area:
York City: Gates will open at 3:30 p.m. Friday for the city's annual Fourth of July celebration at Santander Stadium. Admission and stadium parking at Smalls Field are free, but there will be a charge for concessions. A carnival will be on the Brooks Robinson Plaza; inside the stadium, the warning track will be set up for popular lawn games, and the DownTown Playground and all concession stands will be open. Beginning at 4 p.m., "The Lego Movie" will be shown on the stadium's videoboard. Katie Armiger will perform a country concert at 6 p.m., and the Jazz Ambassadors of the U.S. Army Field Band will perform at 8 p.m. At 9:30, a 22-minute fireworks display begins.
Hanover: A fireworks show is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 4, in Hanover. As in previous years, the display will be held at Moul Field. Live music featuring the Colgan Hirsh Band will start at 7:30 p.m.
Gettysburg: A fireworks display is scheduled for Friday, July 4, in Gettysburg. Destination Gettysburg, formerly known as the Gettysburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, is sponsoring the 9:30 p.m. show. Fireworks will be launched from an open field just south of Mummasburg Road on the Gettysburg College campus, according to a news release. The fireworks will be visible from several vantage points throughout town. The display will follow an 8 p.m. concert featuring patriotic music at the college.
Jacobus: The Fourth of July "Blast" is scheduled to start its fireworks display at dusk, around 9:15 p.m., at the Jacobus Community Park on South Main Street. The display will be preceded by the national anthem and a salute to those who serve, to take place on the baseball field.
Red Lion: A fireworks show will begin around dusk on Thursday, July 3. The best vantage point for viewing the fireworks is at Horn Field at Red Lion Area Senior High School, according to the borough website.
Stewartstown: A fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at the Community Center Fairgrounds. Music from the JC Fisher Band will begin around 7 p.m.
Wrightsville: Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. at the Wrightsville 4th of July Celebration. The Rotary Club of Eastern York County, the sponsor of the event, suggests bringing chairs to view the show on Front and Walnut streets. The Twin Rose Community Band will play from 6 - 9 p.m. before the fireworks display.
Baltimore: Fireworks are scheduled to launch at 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 4, in Baltimore. The display is presented by Ports America Chesapeake and can be viewed from several locations in downtown Baltimore and surrounding areas, according to a post on www.promotionandarts.org. The event will start with live music at 4 p.m. at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater, located at Pratt and Light streets.
