The Spring Grove school board approved the sale of the former Spring Grove Elementary School last week.
River Rock Academy has been leasing the building since 2005 and is now purchasing the building and a portion of the adjoining property.
RRA Properties LLC and River Rock Academy Inc. are purchasing the building and property for $420,000. In addition to the purchase price, River Rock included a provision to waive the tuition for three full-time Spring Grove students for the next two years.
River Rock Academy has several campuses and serves students from Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Perry and York county school districts.
The Spring Grove campus has two wings: One is for alternative education for students who have been disruptive in other school settings, and the other is the Day Treatment program for court-appointed students.
The district vacated Spring Grove Elementary in December 2002 and was rented by the Lincoln Intermediate Unit for a short time before being leased to River Rock in 2005.
