Firefighters put out a sawdust fire Wednesday outside York Casket Co. on Black Bridge Road in Manchester Township.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene about 6:30 p.m., according to County Control 911.

They knocked down the blaze within 10 minutes, before clearing the scene at 9:15 p.m., said Mike Miller, assistant fire chief with the Manchester Township Department of Fire Services.

He said the sawdust caught fire inside a trailer belonging to the casket company, located at 2880 Black Bridge Road.

The trailer was moved to a nearby parking lot, where firefighters continued to put water on it to make sure the fire was fully extinguished, Miller said.

The trailer is not a loss, though the cause of the fire and its damage cost have yet to be determined, Miller said."(The fire) is under investigation," he said. "It seems accidental."

Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Manchester Borough, North York, York City and West Manchester Township, as well as from York Area United Fire and Rescue, based in Springettsbury Township, Miller said.
