A man was airlifted to York Hospital after he was shot by a police officer inside a Hanover home on Monday.

State police said troopers and members of a drug task force went to a house in the 300 block of East Middle Street about 4:40 p.m. to serve two warrants.

While they were in the house, a man walked in, became combative and refused to obey officers' commands, police said; a physical altercation ensued.

During that struggle, the man was shot by an officer and was taken to York Hospital by medical helicopter, according Trooper Robert Hicks said in an email.

Officers involved suffered minor to moderate injuries, according to police, who didn't say how many officers were injured.

The two people with warrants were arrested, police said; their names weren't released.

The York County District Attorney's Office, state police and Hanover Police are investigating.
