The Department of Transportation was expected to begin work on Route 392 Monday, preparing for a project to resurface a 3.32-mile section of the road from the Interstate 83 Park & Ride lot through Yocumtown and Plainfield to Route 262 in Newberry Township.

Those who travel Route 392 may encounter single-lane traffic restrictions with flaggers in the work zone on weekdays after 8:30 a.m. as crews repair the road to prepare for resurfacing. To avoid delays, travelers should allow for additional time in their plans or seek an alternate route, PennDOT advised.

The $1.27 million contract includes drainage updates, roadway base repair, membrane weatherproofing and resurfacing, guiderail installation, sign replacement and new pavement markings.

Locally known as Yocumtown Road, Route 392 averages more than 9,000 vehicles traveled daily. The repairs are scheduled to be completed by December.
