The York Weekend Best of August 2013 entertainment calendar highlights some of the exciting events going on in York County this month.

Great outdoors

The fourth annual Art & Outdoor Fest along the Susquehanna River runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Shank's Mare Outfitters, 2092 Long Level Road near Wrightsville. Celtic communion

The Tartan Terrors combine Celtic music, dance and comedy into a fast-paced show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center, 195 Stock St., Hanover. Tickets: $22-$29.50. Information: (717) 637-7086 or theeich.org.

4-H Fair

The annual York County 4-H Fair is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at the 4-H Center, 771 Stoverstown Road, West Manchester Township. Events include animal judging and exhibits, children's activities, demonstrations from agriculture to robotics, food, cake walks, arts and crafts and more. Who's that rabbit?

An imaginary friend is the talk of the town in "Harvey," the comedic play with the oversized bunny. The show opens Aug. 9 at DreamWrights Youth & Family Theatre, 100 Carlisle Ave., York. All-American tale

"The Great American Trailer Park Musical" packs rude, crude American attitude into the humorous story of neighbors banding together to battle adultery.

The musical comedy opens Aug. 9 at York Little Theatre, 27 S. Belmont St., Spring Garden Township. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17 and at 3 p.m. Aug. 11 and 18. Street fair

The 37th annual Red Lion Street Fair starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, with food, arts and crafts, children's activities, music and more until 4 p.m. in downtown Red Lion. Information: (717) 244-0886, redlionpa.org or rlaba.org.

Have a blast

The annual York County Heritage Trust Book Blast features an enormous assortment of hardcover and paperback books at deep discounts Aug. 15-17 at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum, 217 W. Princess St., York. Admission is free, and the show runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, and Friday, Aug. 16, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with buck-a-bag and half-price deals Saturday, Aug. 17. A wild time

The Keystone Outdoor Expo celebrates the anglers, hunters and campers who explore Pennsylvania's untamed beauty with vendors catering to their needs. The show lasts from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at the York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave., West Manchester Township. Past and present

The 29th annual Dover Old Tyme Days invite attendees to celebrate our agricultural roots with truck and tractor pulls, hay rides, train rides, flea and craft markets, a petting zoo, live music, food and more. The gates open at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16; 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17; and 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at 700 Canal Road in Conewago Township east of Dover. Admission: $2 donation for adults, free for ages 10 and younger. Ancient skills

Learn the ancient art of flintknapping from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Nixon County Park, 5922 Nixon Drive, Springfield Township. The free, hands-on demonstration will include stone tools and weapons, with opportunities for attendees to try axes, throwing sticks, bows, blow guns and atlatls. Yorkfest

The annual Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival fills downtown York with a bevy of artists, crafters, live music and theater, demonstrations and more centered between Philadelphia and Princess streets and Newberry and Beaver streets. The free fun goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25. Be sure to leave pets at home during the festival. Information: (717) 849-2217 or www.yorkcity.org.

Sound box

The fourth annual Pennsylvania Cigar Box Guitar Festival camps out at The York Emporium bookshop and collectible store from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, with indoor and outdoor stages featuring live music all day. Sweet flowers

The 62nd annual Shrewsbury Flower Show celebrates "A Walk Through Candyland" from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, and Sunday, Aug. 25, at the Shrewsbury Fire Hall, 25 W. Forrest Ave. Floral arrangements, houseplants, container gardens, fruits and vegetables and other items will be on display. The show features expert judges as well as a people's choice award attendees can vote on. Admission is by donation. Antiques

The Original Semi-Annual 161st York Antiques Show and Sale brings nearly 100 dealers to York Expo Center's Memorial Hall, 334 Carlisle Ave., for three days of antique furniture, rugs, accessories, jewelry and more. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, and Saturday, Aug. 31, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1. Admission: $10.
