A new development is being planned that will add an assisted living facility, offices, restaurants and retail space in Springettsbury Township's commercial district.
Springetts Commons will bring life to 14 acres of vacant land at the corner of Industrial Highway and Northern Way, according to Patricia Lang, community development director for the township.
A plan submitted this month to the township by Vienna-York LLC includes the following at 2425 Industrial Highway:
- a 36,734-square-foot assisted living facility to accommodate 150 residents and 25 staff members
- a 4,000-square-foot medical office
- two restaurants, each measuring 6,000 square feet
- more than 21,000 square feet of retail space.
The township's zoning ordinance allows for a broad definition of assisted living, so the facility could offer nursing assistance or be senior apartments, Lang said.
Springetts Commons plans were submitted to the township a couple of weeks ago and will be considered by the municipality's planning commission during its next meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15.
Developers could not be reached for comment. Upon a recommendation from the planning commission, the project could be the subject of a public hearing before township supervisors at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, Lang said.
Township Manager John Holman said the plans fit into the community's town-center concept and York County's urban-development plan.
"It's certainly exciting to see that developers are interested in this area. It's an area that's been scheduled for development," he said.
While the project is still in the planning stages, LMS Commercial Real Estate is starting to lease space at Springetts Commons, according to the company's website.
