State Rep. Kevin Schreiber, D-York City, is seeking student applicants from the 95th House District to participate in the Valley Forge Military College Legislative Appointment Initiative.
One appointee receives an annual scholarship to attend the military college, which offers an Army ROTC Early-Commissioning Program as well as a transfer program to four-year colleges and universities throughout the country. Students are not required to join the armed forces after completing the program.
To qualify, students must have an overall grade-point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and an SAT score of 1,000 or ACT score of 21 or higher.
Candidates should be involved in extracurricular activities, demonstrate leadership ability and be service oriented.
The deadline for students to apply is July 26, and the program is open to students preparing to enter college for the 2013-2014 school year.
Schreiber has appointed a selection committee that will review the applications and select the most qualified candidate.
