The York Revolution wasted a strong effort from pitcher Chris Cody on Monday night.
After a long travel day, the left-hander went the distance for the third time this season, but he did so in a losing effort. The Sugar Land Skeeters took advantage of three unearned runs in a 3-0 victory over the visiting Revs in front of 4,910 fans at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas.
Cody threw 113 pitches, going all eight innings and allowing just five hits, all singles. He walked only two and fanned seven, but two costly errors by shortstop Manny Mayorson and a quiet night for the offense spoiled the effort. He fell to 7-4 with the loss, but lowered his ERA to 3.60 for the season.
Sugar Land starter Jason Lane (5-2) allowed just two hits in six scoreless innings to earn the win, while the bullpen trio of Roy Corcoran, Gary Majewski, and Jason Bergmann handled the final three innings respectively to combine on the shutout.
Bergmann notched his 17th save.
