Saturday marks the final day of Blitz Week, and York Habitat is celebrating with a check presentation ceremony, a positive graffiti exhibit and a chicken barbecue.

At 8 a.m., just before the morning shift of construction at the 403/405 S. Albemarle St. duplex, Steve Horning will present a check to York Habitat on behalf of State Farm Insurance Foundation to help fund the build.

Afterward, a Positive Graffiti Exhibit will be held at the construction site. Last summer, 28 teens participated in workshops organized by the Habitat for Humanity Building on Faith Committee. The teens painted 4-by-8 pieces of plywood to represent how important they felt having a home of their own is. The graffiti boards will be used to construct the exterior walls of the duplex.

The celebration will continue at 11 am at Bethany United Methodist Church on Mount Rose Avenue with a chicken barbecue fundraiser. For $8, a dinner of a half chicken, baked potato, applesauce and dinner roll will be available for purchase. Meals may be ordered in advance by calling the Habitat Office at 854-6168, but walkup orders are welcome while supplies last. The barbecue runs until 1 p.m.
