A man accused of stealing an ATV from a Jackson Township resident had previously caught the resident's attention, and that's what led to his quick arrest, police said.

Frank William Samuel, 20, of 626 Rocky Ridge Road in Jackson Township, is free on unsecured bail, charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property.

Northern York County Regional Police said Samuel was riding an ATV in a field not far from the 7700 block of Gnatstown Road and caught the attention of a resident in the block.

Samuel seemed to be paying too much attention to the resident's property, which made the resident wary, according to Lt. David Lash.

So after the resident's outbuilding was burglarized and his Honda Rancher ATV stolen overnight Monday, he told officers about the ATV rider he'd seen, Lash said. Officers got Samuel's name from the person who owns the field, Lash said.

Officers went to Samuel's home -- about a half-mile away -- and found the stolen Honda Rancher hidden in the woods nearby, according to Lash. It has been returned to its owner, he said.

The Rancher's registration plate, battery and registration cards were found inside Samuel's home, Lash said.
