A York Play Streets event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Salem Square Neighborhood at Salem Square and West Street.

The free family event will feature music, bounce houses, an imagination playground, NEOS electronic game, Zumba dancing, a water splash station and health screenings.

The event is part of a national initiative by Partnership for a Healthier America and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association to combat childhood obesity by encouraging children to be physically active.

Other York Play Street events are from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Kiwanis Lake at Newberry Street and Parkway Boulevard; noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Albemarle Park at Albemarle, Edison and Lehman streets; and 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Campus Park, Duke Street and College Ave.
