Police and the Strinestown Fire Department responded to the fire at 5145 Susquehanna Trail at 3:41 a.m., after the resident reported waking to the sound of popping noises on her front porch.
"She then observed that two sleeping bags that had been hanging on the porch railing were ablaze," police wrote in a bulletin.
Family members extinguished the blaze, which caused minor damage to the porch railing and roof.
The state police fire marshal is assisting with the investigation, which continues.
