An autopsy Friday on a 21-year-old York County Prison inmate determined he committed suicide, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

The 21-year-old Springettsbury Township man hanged himself Thursday, the coroner's office said. His name is not being released.

The inmate was found unresponsive in his cell about 6:05 p.m. by another inmate, according to York County spokesman Carl Lindquist.

That inmate alerted corrections officers, who performed CPR until prison medical staff arrived and took over, Lindquist said.

The man was transported to York Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Lindquist.
