Security officers at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station chased off two would-be burglars who were breaking into a storage trailer there early Thursday morning.
About 4 a.m. at the Lay Road plant in Peach Bottom Township, security spotted two people at a storage trailer, state police said. They'd broken the window screen and were pushing up the unlocked window when security officers on patrol spotted them, police said.
The two would-be burglars ran off, headed toward Booker Road, police said.
No property was taken, according to police.
Lacey Dean, spokeswoman for the nuclear power plant, said nothing dangerous was stored in the trailer -- nothing radioactive and no security or safety-related equipment.
Troopers said they also are investigating the theft of two ladders stolen from a property about four miles away, also in Peach Bottom Township.
Debra Eick told troopers the two ladders were stored outside her home and taken between 10 a.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call state police at 428-1011.
