Residents can now drop off unused or expired medication at the Northeastern Regional Police station. The department has partnered with MedReturn and the York County Solid Waste Authority to offer a medication take back program and recently received its collection unit, according to the police department.
The secure collection unit provides a safe and environmentally friendly way to collect unwanted or expired household medication, including prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs and unused pharmaceuticals, police said.
After medications are deposited in the 200-pound unit, they're contained in a locked compartment accessible only by law enforcement before being taken to the authority for destruction.
The collection unit is located in the lobby, which is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., of the police department at 5570 Board Road, Mount Wolf.
