Dallastown remained the only unbeaten softball team in York-Adams Division I on Wednesday, but it wasn't easy.
The Wildcats trailed 7-3 after four innings before scoring three runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to escape with an 8-7 triumph at New Oxford.
Dallastown improved to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in Division I. New Oxford dropped to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the division.
Kelsey Collins went the distance to earn the win, striking out seven and walking one. Nicole Ayers also went the route for New Oxford, fanning seven and walking seven.
Kayla Merriman homered and tripled for the winners. Sam Hartman also had two hits, including a triple. Ashley Werner added three RBIs for the winners.
Ayers had three New Oxford hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Lindsey Miller added two triples for the Colonials, while Kendra Becker and Brenna LaBreck each added two hits. One of LaBreck's hits was a double.
SUSQUEHANNOCK 8, DOVER 3: At Dover, Maddy Staub pitched a complete-game seven-hitter to lead Susquehannock. She struck out four and walked four. Megan Rogers went 4-for-4 for the Warriors, including two doubles, to go with two RBIs. Alexis Gohn pitched a complete-game for Dover, striking out eight and walking two. Natalie Cutright was 3-for-4 for the Eagles with a triple.
DELONE CATHOLIC 11, YORK CATHOLIC 1: At McSherrystown, Shelbee Holcomb hit a two-run homer and Katie Laughman hit an RBI triple. For the Irish, Liz Lynch hit a triple. Delone improved to 5-0 in York-Adams Division IV and 6-0 overall.
HANOVER 6, YORK TECH 4: At Spry, the Hawkettes plated two runs in the top of the sixth to break a 4-4 tie. Ashley Lawson led the Hawkettes with four hits, including a double. Lawson also came on in relief of starter Sara Durika in the fourth to pick up the win. Durika had three hits, including a double. For the Spartans, Angela Johnson had two hits, including a double, while Cheyenne Fulcher had two hits.
RED LION 14, SOUTH WESTERN 3: At Hanover, Megan Chapman led the Lions, going 3-for-3, including two homers and seven RBIs. Alexa Taylor (3-for-4), Paige Taylor (2-for-3), Mackenzie Rumburg (2-for-3) and Taylor Gould (2-for-5) also excelled for the Lions. Rumburg also picked up the complete-game victory, striking out four and walking none. For the Mustangs, Kirsten Hertzog went 2-for-3.
LITTLESTOWN 12, WEST YORK 8: At Littlestown, Ally Schroeder led the Thunderbolts with three hits, including a homer. Casey Saylor had two hits, including a homer, Cheyenne White hit two singles and Shelby Dews homered. The Bulldogs were held to just two singles.
EASTERN YORK 16, BERMUDIAN SPRINGS 9: At Wrightsville, the Golden Knights trailed 7-4 entering the bottom of the fifth, but exploded for nine runs in the inning to take command. Sierra Arnold led the Golden Knights, going 4-for-4, including a double and a triple. Maria Miller (2-for-4, three-run homer), Erin Kalke (2-for-4, triple), Leanne Lagowski (triple, double), Lauren Reichard (2-for-3, triple) and Katie Sollenberger (2-for-4) also shined for Eastern. For the Eagles, Morgan Williams went 2-for-4, including a two-run homer, while Paige Huntington went 3-for-4.
SPRING GROVE 12, YORK SUBURBAN 2: Tied 1-1 through two innings, Spring Grove broke the game open with an eight-run third, which included a three-run double by Jenna Jacoby. Jacoby also picked up the win by tossing six innings, allowing three hits and striking out six. Teammate Hayley Norton (4-for-4, two home runs, triple, three RBIs, four runs scored) also had a good game at the plate.
