There's now a four-way logjam at the top of the York-Adams Division II boys' tennis standings.
The division's two lone unbeaten teams -- York Catholic and Susquehannock -- each suffered losses on Tuesday afternoon in marathon matches. York Catholic fell to Delone Catholic at Springettsbury Park, 4-3, while Susquehannock lost at York Suburban 5-2. Each of those contests featured four three-set matches. As a result, York Catholic, Susquehannock, Delone Catholic and Biglerville are each now 3-1 in division action. Suburban and Hanover are just a game back at 2-2.
At Springettsbury Park, the Squires (4-2 overall) prevailed by sweeping the doubles in straight sets. Adam Fisher and Matt Juchno won at No. 1 doubles, while Evan Staub and Eric Hippensteel took the No. 2 doubles contest. Juchno also won a three-setter at No. 3 singles, while Staub won in straight sets at No. 2 singles. Adam Hack (No. 1), Scott Bartkowiak (No. 4) and Tim Hartinger (No. 5) each won three-set singles matches for York Catholic (5-3 overall).
At Suburban, Michael Hogg, Michael Peck and Sam Atkinson earned singles wins for the Trojans (4-4 overall), with Hogg and Peck winning three-setters. Hogg and Elliot Diehl then triumphed at No. 1 doubles for the Trojans, while Peck and Matthew Manzella were victorious at No. 2 doubles. Both the doubles victories also came in three sets. Dan Ferraro and Shane Bookhultz earned straight-set singles wins for the Warriors (6-3 overall).
OTHER BOYS' TENNIS
DALLASTOWN 6, RED LION 1: At Red Lion, Dallastown remained alone in first place in York-Adams Division I with a victory over its arch-rival. The visiting Wildcats received straight-set singles victories from John Schmitt, Kyle Salaga, Payce Berridge, Nick Barley and Michael Gibbs. Barley also had a hand in the No. 2 doubles win for Dallastown. Sam Innerst and C.J. Weigle won at No. 1 doubles to account for Red Lion's point. Dallastown improved to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the division.
CENTRAL YORK 7, NORTHEASTERN 0: At Central, the Panthers improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in York-Adams Division I. Central trails first-place Dallastown by just a half game. Hunter Brown, Josh Strickler, Tyson Chen, Devin Lehigh and Chris Maderitz each rolled to straight-set victories.
SOUTH WESTERN 7, WEST YORK 0: At West York, Andrew Slater won in singles and doubles to lead the Mustangs. Ben Sentz, Ben Harrison, Jordan Heavel and Brett Rudisill also won in singles for South Western, which improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in York-Adams Division I.
NEW OXFORD 7, DOVER 0: At Dover, Joel Luckenbaugh and Dwight Kessler won in singles and doubles to power the Colonials.
