The York Jewish Community Center has afternoons of kid-friendly activities in store for youngsters.
The Lunch & Learn program was created for children ages 3-6 and begins at 11:30 a.m. each weekday. The schedule is:
-- Lunch and Literacy: On Mondays, children participate in storytelling, bookmaking and puppetry in a literature-rich environment.
-- Lunch and Math/Science: Tuesdays, the classroom becomes a mini laboratory as children explore math and science concepts through hands-on activities such as cooking and planting.
-- Lunch and Drama: Wednesdays, children will learn about theatrics while participating in creative mini-skits. Costumes and props are provided.
-- Lunch and Art: Every Thursday, through stories and a variety of materials such as painting, clay and collage, the children will explore ways to expand and express their creativity.
-- Lunch and Fitness: On Friday, class begins with a healthy lunch, then it's off to the gym for exercise, yoga, gymnastics and dance.
A well balanced lunch, prepared in the JCC main kitchen, will be provided, but packers are welcome too.
Families may pick up children right after Lunch & Learn at 2 p.m. or may enroll children in the extended day program from 2-6 p.m. To enroll, or for more information, contact Kristen Nowak at firstname.lastname@example.org or 843-0918.
Classes are $27 per day.
