Come April, a section of Springwood Road in York Township will be closed as construction crews remove a bridge and replace it with a culvert.

Built in 1932, the bridge over Mill Creek will close Monday and is expected to reopen Friday, June 7, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Until then, a detour that follows Route 74 through the boroughs of Dallastown and Yoe back to Springwood Road will be in place, PennDOT said.

This week, drivers may encounter lane restrictions after 8 a.m. on weekdays.

The contract for the $471,252 project was awarded to C.H. & D. Enterprises Inc. of Westmoreland County. It includes excavation and removal of the existing bridge, installation of a pre-cast concrete box culvert, road reconstruction and installation of new guide rail, signs and new traffic lines, PennDOT said.
