Olympic gold medalist Mia Hamm is coming to York.
Hamm will present "The Pursuit of Excellence" at York College at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, in the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center's Wolf Gym.
Tickets for the talk, which will be held under the sponsorship of the Vizzi Family Lectureship in Professional Excellence, will be available from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., on Thursday, March 28; and Monday through Wednesday, April 1-3, at the student activities office in the Iosue Student Union. Each person will be allowed two tickets. Any remaining tickets will be available through the college's Center for Professional Excellence office at (717) 815-1534, after April 8.
Hamm is widely recognized as the world's best all-around women's soccer player. After 17 years on the U.S. women's national team, two World Cup titles and two Olympic gold medals, Hamm retired in 2004. She established the Mia Hamm Foundation to support patients and their families who benefit from bone marrow transplants, as well as provide more opportunities for girls in sports.
She is the author of "Go For the Goal: A Champion's Guide to Winning in Soccer and Life."
