Two people got a more thorough inspection than the expected when a West York fire official came to their rental apartment for a routine inspection Tuesday morning.

The fire official reported to borough police that he saw what he believed were marijuana stems and blunts in an ashtray and two adults passed out as five to seven were "scurrying around" the 1103 W. King St. apartment when he went there to do a routine rental unit inspection about 10:30 a.m., according to West York Police.

The children were wearing only soiled diapers and clothing, the fire official told police.

Accompanied by members of the York County Drug Task Force, West York Police served a search warrant at the apartment at 4 p.m. and seized marijuana, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Theadric Leron Williams, 24, and Joanny Medina, 26, who live in the apartment were taken into a custody. Another man who was also at the apartment when the warrant was served was released after officers learned he was only visiting, police said.

Williams will be charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

He is in York County Prison on a probation violation, a prison spokesman said.

Medina was not charged in the incident but was turned over to the York County Sheriff's Office for two arrest warrants stemming from school code violations, police said.
