A coating of snow is expected for York County this evening, according a meteorologist at WHTM abc27.

"We're seeing steady snow developing and it's reaching the (York County) area," said meteorologist Eric Finkenbinder. We will see a period of snow with some on the grass. You'll more likely get coating on grass and an in some places, but mainly coating."

Periods of rain and snow showers are expected throughout the evening, Finkenbinder said.

"(Motorists) will see some slushy evening commute," he said.

That slush has resulted in a rash of accidents around York County. Most have been reported as non-injury accidents.

Snow showers are expected to continue overnight, though no significant snow accumulation is expected, Finkenbinder said.

Spotty rain and snow showers are expected Tuesday with the high temperature close to 45, according to weather forecast at www.abc27.com.

The National Weather Service has placed the area under a winter weather advisory through 8 a.m. Tuesday, saying sleet and freezing rain could accompany the snow at times.
