A tractor-trailer driver had his driver's license taken by another driver on Monday after a minor crash on Interstate 83 in Manchester Township, said state police, who are looking for the unidentified driver.

According to troopers, rig driver Randall D. Hyre Jr. was involved in a fender-bender with a man driving a gray or silver Dodge 2500 pickup truck on I-83 southbound, about a mile south of the Strinestown exit (Exit 28).

Because Hyre didn't have enough room on the shoulder of the highway to pull off completely, he suggested he and the other driver go to a better location, police said. In good faith, he gave the other driver his Pennsylvania driver's license before they both left for the other location, police said.

The other driver left, but Hyre had minor mechanical difficulties with the tractor-trailer he was driving, causing him to arrive late to the agreed-upon location, troopers said. By that time, the other driver was gone.

The other driver is white, between 30 to 40 years old, medium build, with short, dark-brown hair. He was clean-shaven and wearing a black jacket with a patch on the left shoulder, troopers said.

Anyone with information on the identity of the driver can call state police at 428-1011.
