A Peach Bottom Township woman died Monday morning when her pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer in Manchester Township, causing her to be thrown from her vehicle.
Kelly Lynn Schurtz, 44, of the 7600 block of Woodbine Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened just before 9 a.m., said York County Deputy Coroner Claude Stabley.
Schurtz was driving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on Mundis Race Road and either ran the stop sign at Emig Road or didn't stop long enough for a westbound tractor-trailer to clear the intersection, according to Sgt. Gregg Anderson.
When she pulled onto Emig Road, the left front driver's side of her pickup made contact with the tractor-trailer's rear dual wheels, which pulled her truck into the side of the trailer, Anderson said.
Thrown: Schurtz was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the pickup truck. She died of multiple blunt force trauma, Stabley said.
James Ginter, 29, of New Providence, Lancaster County, was driving the 2005 International tractor-trailer. He escaped injury, police said.
Investigators found no fault on the part of Ginter, Anderson said.
Emig and Mundis Race roads were closed for about two hours after the crash, he said.
Police continue to investigate the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northern York County Regional Police Department at 292.3647 or use the crime tip reporting portion of nycrpd.org.
