A Wednesday-morning drug raid at a York City apartment netted heroin, cash and several guns, including a loaded AK-47, police said.
Detective First Class Andrew Shaffer said city vice and narcotics officers raided the rear apartment of 600 W. Philadelphia St. about 6:15 a.m. and arrested a man and his girlfriend.
Officers seized $1,800 worth of heroin, $380 cash, the AK-47 and a loaded Mossberg pistol-grip 12-gauge pump shotgun.
Officers found the guns in an unlocked bedroom, each in a corner of the room, Shaffer said. The guns' safety mechanisms weren't engaged and both had ammunition in their chambers, he said.
The two children who live there "could have killed themselves or someone else," according to Shaffer. The children are less than 6 years old, but are old enough to walk around by themselves, he said.
Ryan Vialva, 21, and Jasmine Rulz, 27, are charged with two counts each of endangering the welfare of children and one count each of heroin possession with intent to deliver.
Vialva also is charged with two counts of being a convicted felon in illegal possession of a firearm.
