Once again, a tractor-trailer driver ignored clearance signs for a Manchester Township overpass and wedged his rig underneath it, police said.
Large trucks become stuck two or three times a year at the Norfolk Southern Railroad overpass on Woodland View Drive near Blackbridge Road, according to Lt. David Lash of Northern York County Regional Police.
"It seems like they're all following their GPS units and not paying attention to the signs," he said. "There are multiple warning signs."
The most recent incident happened about 11:30 a.m. Monday.
A Freightliner truck tractor hauling a 13.5-foot-tall and 53-foot-long trailer was westbound when driver Nykil Rashad tried to drive under the overpass, Lash said -- despite the fact the
Rashad, 30, of Jonesboro, Ga., wasn't hurt and the bridge wasn't damaged. The truck is owned by Interstate Distributor Co. of Tacoma, Wash., and was on its way to the nearby industrial park, Lash said.
The road was closed for several hours until the tractor-trailer could be removed.
