The Northeastern boys' basketball team is headed to the PIAA state playoffs.
Khalid Nwandu and Braheem Riley combined for 45 points to help power Northeastern past Boiling Springs, 68-64, on Monday night.
The District 3-AAA consolation semifinal victory at Carlisle sewed up a state berth for the Bobcats.
Nwandu scored 23 points and Riley added 22 for the Bobcats, who held off a Bubblers' rally in the fourth quarter to gain their 18th victory of the season against eight defeats.
Derrick Hoffman added 12 points for Northeastern, which will take on Bishop McDevitt (18-7) in the District 3 fifth-place game on Thursday. The site and time for the contest have not yet been announced.
Matt Gelber poured in 23 points to lead Boiling Springs (16-9). The Bubblers will face Lancaster Catholic in the seventh-place game. The winner will earn the final District 3 spot in states.
OTHER BOYS' BASKETBALL
LEBANON CATHOLIC 67, NEW HOPE ACADEMY 49: At East Pennsboro High School, Lebanon Catholic blew open a close District 3-A semifinal by outscoring New Hope, 25-12, in the third quarter.
Timmy Orr scored 23 points for the Beavers, who knocked in nine 3-point shots. Ishmael Brown led the Mighty Ants with 16 points, and Montrel Morgan added 13 points for the York team.
New Hope (17-5) will next take on Harrisburg Christian (12-13) in the District 3-A third-place game, which is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at a site to be announced. Lebanon Catholic (17-7) will face Greenwood (21-3) for the district title at 5 p.m. Friday at the Giant Center. Greenwood beat Harrisburg Christian in Monday's other semifinal, 57-24.
New Hope has already secured a PIAA state playoff berth.
RED LION CHRISTIAN 77, CARLISLE CHRISTIAN 57: At Red Lion Christian, the Swordsmen led 32-1 at the end of the first quarter and cruised to the easy victory.
Jake Myers led the Swordsmen with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Chance Thompson knocked in 20 points for the winners, while Corbin Willard scored 17, including three 3-pointers. Willard also dished out 11 assists.
