To say that Brad Strathmeyer has made an immediate impact on the West Chester University swimming program would an understatement.
The West York High School graduate was recently named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Year -- as a freshman. He helped the Rams capture their 15th-straight men's team title at the PSAC Championships at Cumberland Valley High School. A West Chester athlete has been the PSAC Men's Swimmer of the Year for seven-straight seasons.
Strathmeyer set PSAC records in winning the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:31.57), the 1,000 free (9:20,94) and 500 free (4:29.23). Strathmeyer also swam a leg on West Chester's victorious 800 free relay .
Strathmeyer earned berths in the NCAA Division II Championships in all three individual events. The NCAA event is March 6-9 in Birmingham, Ala. At the NCAA event, Strathmeyer is seeded fourth in the 1,650 free, eighth in the 1,000 free and 11th in the 500 free. A top-eight finish in any of the events will earn Strathmeyer All-America recognition.
