A York City man who carjacked a woman at knifepoint last summer has been sentenced to state prison.
On Monday, Common Pleas Judge Michael E. Bortner sentenced Christopher Allen Bupp to 6½ to 13 years in prison.
Bupp, 26, of the 1200 block of Devers Road, pleaded guilty Dec. 19 to one count of robbery. As part of a negotiated plea agreement, all other charges in the case were dismissed, including aggravated assault and robbery of a motor vehicle.
Northern York County Regional Police said Bupp approached a 55-year-old woman who was sitting in her car in the parking lot of the Motel 6, 323 Arsenal Road, about 11:25 p.m. Aug. 9.
He asked if she needed help and when she said she didn't, he pulled out a knife and carjacked her, police said.
Before driving off Bupp told her, "If you call the police I will come back here and kill you," according to police. But the woman did call 911.
Less than 20 minutes after the carjacking, police stopped the stolen car and arrested Bupp.
