York Area Regional Police now have a drug collection box in the front lobby of their station.
Residents can turn in unused or expired medication for safe disposal at the 33 Oak St. station during administrative hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to a news release from the department.
Prescription drugs, patches and ointments, as well as over-the-counter medication, vitamins, and medications for pets can be disposed in the box.
Hydrogen peroxide, thermometers, inhalers, needles, medication from a business or clinic and aerosol cans cannot be disposed in the box, the release said.
