The political website PoliticsPA on Thursday named Democratic Party of York County Chairman Bob Kefauver as one of the top 12 party chairs in Pennsylvania, his second-consecutive appearance on the list.
Kefauver is joined on the list by 5 other Democratic chairs and 6 Republican chairs from throughout the state.
"Before Auditor General Eugene DePasquale won in November, can anyone name the last York County Dem elected statewide?" the website read. "Gov. George Leader in 1954...(Kefauver) leads the party in a county that is poised to grow more favorable for Democrats over the next decade."
The site created the list after speaking with politicos, party activists, and its readers.
The 50-year-old York City man has been chair for nearly three years. He said Thursday that he has been volunteering for the Democratic Party since the re-election campaign of Jimmy Carter in 1980.
"I'm truly honored and I'm humbled and quite frankly was caught a little off-guard this morning," he said. "We're working really hard to turn things around for York County. This is an honor that I share with every York County Democratic volunteer, contributor, candidate and voter."
