Taking precautions is rarely a bad thing, especially when it comes to your health.

For anyone interested in learning about how to prevent and deal with chronic diseases, the York County Area Agency on Aging is offering "Better Choices, Better Health," a free six-week workshop.

The new workshop series has been established to help people with chronic diseases and their caregivers manage their symptoms and conditions.

Chronic diseases are ongoing health problems such as arthritis, asthma, diabetes, lung disease, heart disease, stroke and osteoporosis.

Trained instructors will cover such topics as stress reduction, communication skills, dealing with distressful emotions, planning for the future, and how to locate and use community resources.

It will be held from 5 to 7:30 Tuesday evenings, beginning Feb. 19, at the Penn State Extension Offices in the York County Annex, 112 Pleasant Acres Road in Springettsbury Township.

For more information or to register for the free workshop series, call 717-771-9610 or 1-800-632-9073.
